Giir di Mont Volunteers

The Giir di Mont is not just a race – it’s a true celebration of community.

Behind every edition stands a silent army of volunteers, of all ages, who make everything possible with passion and dedication.

Without them, the Giir di Mont simply wouldn’t exist.

Weeks of preparation

The work begins weeks before the race.

Volunteers get busy cleaning and maintaining the mountain trails, cutting grass, repairing damaged paths, and making sure the course is safe and ready for the athletes.

It’s a quiet, often tiring job – but absolutely essential for the success of the event.

The Giir Week

During the week leading up to race day, Premana completely transforms.

Every corner of the village comes alive, thanks to the volunteers working behind the scenes on countless tasks.

Some:

  • prepare the race kits in the gym,

  • set up the main square, the sports field, and the self-service area,

  • organize bars and refreshment points,

  • mark the trails and put up signposts,

  • help with controls along the route or assist with the live broadcast,

  • or simply make sure every detail is perfect.

Sunday: the big day

Race day begins at 4 in the morning.

While the village is still asleep, volunteers are already at work setting up tents, barriers, tables, audio and video systems, and much more.

During the race, everyone has their own role:

some direct the runners at intersections, others hand out drinks, assist athletes, update results, or support the broadcast team.

And when the last runner crosses the finish line, volunteers take everything down, with the same energy and dedication as at the start.

A thank you that means everything

All this is done voluntarily, out of love for the Giir and for the community.

The only tangible reward is the official volunteer T-shirt, but the real prize is the pride of being able to say:

“I was part of the Giir di Mont.”

Every year, from the youngest to the oldest, everyone contributes — a united community that works together to make this world-famous event possible.

A huge thank you to all of you

To those who clean the trails, serve at the refreshment points, set up and take down structures, organize, coordinate, smile, and help in every way:

you are the heart and soul of the Giir di Mont.
